WOW! The day finally arrived……..Indeed I didn’t get much sleep last night, but today it has been worth it.
I didn’t sleep as good as I thought I would have, the high winds were blowing the house it seemed, and at times I thought it was one of the children stirring through the house. But bright and early, we were awaken by my Son. Of course the excitement was too much for his little body to contain. The HUGE (as tall as him) Batman that Santa placed next to the tree was over the top for him. He burst into the room shouting about what Santa left for him. That was precious. My first order of business was to get my first cup of java, and that was very nice.
I am naughty, in that I made my children wait a bit. Since we are snowed in, not able to leave if we wanted to, I wanted a nice breakfast. I knew we had all day to open gifts, so I made bacon and eggs. I got them all nice and full, and by the time breakfast was done, we were all ready to tear into the gifts. The kids ooohed and aaawed over everything they received. That is a very good feeling as I am sitting there, thinking to myself, patting myself on the back discreetly even. Only I know the true secret of “Santa Claus”. The kids were so involved in their new toys, we almost forgot the stockings. That was almost as good as their gifts, as I made sure I stuffed many toys into their stockings, as well as their favorite cookies and chocolates. It was a very very good Christmas morning!!
Of course my husband and I exchanged a couple of very nice items as well, but we limit each other on what we buy for one another. We get more joy watching the children. Just like kids in a candy store.
My Dad did call off the Christmas dinner that was planned for today. We have very high snow drifts all over, and the snow is not to end anytime soon. The winds are still howling, and will continue into tomorrow. So yes, a very white Christmas indeed! We will be stuck here for a while, maybe days, but I sure hope not. Too bad Santa could not have afforded a big 4×4 for Christmas! Ha! If only……
We will enjoy our leftovers (which there are quite a bit) for dinner tonight. The kids will be busy playing with all their new things and husband and I will take turns shoveling our driveway and walkway. On one side of our home, there is a good 5.5 ft snow drift. I am sure by the time this all ends, it will be much taller than that. Too bad I didn’t have a snowmobile! Oh how fun that would be here right now. But I prefer to stay in and keep warm and watch my children.
So to all of those in the world today, I sure hope your Christmas Day is a very merry one! Whether you are snowed in like us, or enjoying the nice and warm air, enjoy the day, be appreciative of all the people you have in your life, your health, and the fact you have a roof over your head and food to eat. Too many out there suffer with none of the things mentioned. So be joyful for what we do have.
To all the service men and women: A VERY SPECIAL THANKS for your daily fight to keep the rest of us safe. You have sacrificed more for us all than we can imagine, but a very heartfelt thanks for all you do! I am sure I speak for everyone when I say, God bless and come home safely!
MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone!!!!!!
XOXOXOXOXO
